Have a look at this link.
So, there are a handful of Australians stuck in a first world country and unable to get a flight home. It's described in three different stories on the same website as a 'nightmare'.
A nightmare. A nightmare in a first world country with delicious food, where everything costs a third. A nightmare where you can get a five star hotel room, see the sights, go shopping, do whatever. A nightmare with air-conditioning, a mini-bar and a view. How dreadful.
Is it possible we're losing a bit of perspective?

Last time I looked, Thailand had several land borders with friendly countries, functioning airports at Phuket and Chiang Mai with flights to Malaysia, a perfectly good railway, and several long-distance buses. Why these spoilt bastards think it's someone else's responsibility to get them and their matching suitcases full of batik prints, nasty woodcarvings and floral print bathing costumes back to Wagga Wagga or Woolongong or wherever, I can't imagine, unless the blame culture is now so all-pervasive that it's quite impossible for the people to believe that just occasionally they may have to sort out their own lives.
The fact that the media thinks it newsworthy to give these whingers publicity, rather than telling them to get their fat arses round to the bus station and leave the rest of us alone just goes to show how deep the infection runs.
Perhaps the word "nightmare" has been bandied about too much, thus giving it greater meaning than is actually warranted?
I mean, if I dreamt that I was supposed to catch a flight but it was cancelled & I was stuck at an airport when I had little funds cos I spent up big on my holiday, then I most likely would wake up and say "Damn, I had the most uncomfortable nightmare, oh well, breakfast time..."
Perhaps these turkeys are actually just very literal people and are comparing their current situation with something that they will most likely forget about in a weeks time?
Hmmm, something to think about, hey Book Grocer?
Dear Alan,
You have just made my day. There just isn't enough loose cannons around these days that are prepared to speak their mind like you just did. The aggressive tone in which your message was delivered demanded respect. Once you threw in the sweeping statements about Wagga Wagga & Wollongong, I knew we were dealing with a man who likes to push the envelope.
Statements like "show how deep the infection runs" left me wanting more. You really do operate on a different level. Keep up the good work.
Do you have a Blog?
